My Background
Welcome to Abounding Hope- my name is Christie Polk, and I have been in practice since 2008. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have 18 years' experience in community mental health, school counseling, and private counseling. I received my Bachelors' from Union University in Social Work, and my Master of Social Work from University of Tennessee.
Pain... Pain can be emotional, physical or spiritual and sometimes we need to talk about it, process it and allow the Lord to heal those deep places of hurt. And when complete healing is not possible, we can learn to reconcile it somehow. My own journey was to trust the process- to accept wise and Godly counsel around me, to allow others to guide me and ultimately learn from it in order to help others. My goal is to come alongside others that are in pain- to walk with you in your journey, to guide you, to pray for you, and assist with treatment disorders as needed.
Change is a hard process. I use cognitive behavioral (CBT) techniques, trauma focused CBT, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, and brief solution-focused therapy to treat people ages ten and up from a range of concerns like grief, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
We are all on a journey towards healing, and restoration. It would be my privilege to walk with you on your journey, we call life.
